Flaneur means “stroller” – the quintessential romantic poet activity.
The terms of flânerie date to the 17th century, denoting strolling, idling, often with the connotation of wasting time. But it was in the 19th century that a rich set of meanings and definitions surrounding the flâneur took shape. The word carried a set of rich associations: the man of leisure, the idler, the urban explorer, the connoisseur of the street. To flâne “is the very opposite of doing nothing”, Honoré de Balzac described flânerie as “the gastronomy of the eye”, a moving and passionate daguerreotype.

Natalie and Mike, newly engaged and madly in love, flew from Toronto to Paris for a few days to explore the city and indulge in the romance Paris offers so abundantly. From the charms of Montmartre to the iconic Eiffel Tower the city of light ignites a passion in all us dreamers out there. There is nothing more magical then spending the day strolling along the Seine and ducking into the small corner cafe for a pastry a coffee or a glass of wine along the way. Art blooms everywhere, in the streets and it’s famed museums, and the city in all it’s beauty and excitement is so alive day and night.
