Our trip to Poland this summer was amazing. We landed in Krakow and spent the night exploring the pretty city with its large downtown squares, beautiful fountains and buzzing night life. The following morning we were off to Sean and Magda’s wedding in Zakopane Poland on a 2 hour bus ride up the Tetra mountains. The views and landscapes we passed on the way were so beautiful our excitement grew with altitude!
Sean and Magda’s wedding was only a few days away and we couldn’t wait to start scouting locations for our very first destination wedding outside of Portugal (first of many we hope)
The wedding destination was in Koschieisho, a small village just outside of Zakopane. A very magical place. We fell in love with the little wooden cabins nestled amongst the trees and the wilderness that rose up into the mountains.
We would love to go back there again soon, perhaps even try some skiing next time.
The afternoon before the wedding.
We met up with Sean and Magda the day before their wedding and went to Dolina Kosheilisko, a large valley with a hiking trail. The trail was 6 miles long….
…we did not walk that far.
We photographed and chatted about the wedding, it was to be a traditional Polish wedding so there were many different rituals that we learned about: Like breaking the bread upon the entrance to the dinning room and breaking the wine glasses by tossing them behind you, then immediately cleaning up the mess with dust-pan and brush!
The walk was a lot of laughs as we got to know Sean and Magda and by the end we were more excited about their wedding than before, if that was even possible.

Sean and Magda live in Ireland, they travelled a long way to tie the knot in Koscheillisko Poland this August. Magda is originally from Poland and the couple visited Zakopane a few times in the past. It was the place where Sean proposed.
They married in the most amazing wooden log church, with beautiful wood carvings on the walls and stained glass windows. Polish folk musicians played and led the wedding party in and from the church. The reception venue was only a stones throw away down the street at a pretty little wooden cottage. The decor was very eclectic, rustic and woodsy. There was a bottle of Polish vodka on the table for everyone. There was so much food and so much dancing. The dancing started at 5 pm and went on to 5am, we have never seen anything like it!
Being asked to photograph a destination wedding in a place like this is so incredible and a very big deal to a pair of photographers who love to travel. We can’t thank Sean and Magda enough for wanting to have us document their wedding. We had the best time and it was an experience we won’t ever forget.
